This officer’s visor cap belonged to the South African Union Defence Force’s Chaplain Corps. The cap features a khaki wool body with a distinctive purple mohair band, denoting ecclesiastical service. Its cap badge includes a silver star over a golden wreath, with the motto ‘IN HOC SIGNO’ on blue enamel. The interior bears the SAPHI Pretoria maker mark, confirming its mid-century South African origin.
