This original West German police visor cap originates from the state of Lower Saxony (Niedersachsen) and dates to the early postwar period (1950s-1960s). It is constructed from dark field-grey wool with a matching black leather visor and black plastic chin strap. The front displays a gilt starburst badge featuring the rearing horse emblem of Niedersachsen, with a national cockade above it in red-black-gold. The inner celluloid sweat shield is intact, and the cap features a handwritten name label reading ‘KANT’.
